Myth: Implant surgery is extremely painful.
Fact: The area is fully numbed and sedation is available. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain, and the soreness afterwards usually peaks at two to three days and then fades.

Dental implants replace missing teeth with a new root and a new tooth that stay fixed in place and are cared for like your own. At Modern Dental Hub in Merrick, our dentists plan each implant with 3D imaging (CBCT), place it and complete the final crown, bridge or denture in the same practice, whether you are missing one tooth or a full arch.
Implants suit most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth and want a replacement that does not come out. You may be a good candidate if you:
Two things matter most: healthy gums and enough jawbone to hold the implant. If the bone has thinned, bone grafting can often rebuild it first. Diabetes, some medications and smoking can slow healing, so we review your medical history first. When an implant is not the right fit, a dental bridge or denture can still restore your smile well, and we will tell you honestly which we would choose in your place.
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone where a tooth root used to be. Over a few months the bone bonds to the post, a process called osseointegration, and the implant becomes a stable anchor. A connector called an abutment is attached, and the final restoration is fixed on top: a single crown for one tooth, a bridge for several teeth in a row, or a full set of fixed teeth for one jaw supported by four or six implants (All-on-4 and All-on-6).
Every case is planned on a 3D CBCT scan, which shows the bone, nerves and sinuses in three dimensions. Guided planning sets the exact position, angle and depth of each implant before the appointment.

A finished implant looks, feels and works much like a natural tooth: you chew with confidence, speak clearly and brush and floss as usual. Because the implant acts like a root, it helps preserve the bone and the shape of your face in a way that a conventional denture cannot. Implants have a high long-term success rate when the gum and bone around them stay healthy, and with good care they can last for many years. Results vary, and the crown or denture on top may need adjusting or replacing over time as any restoration would.
Consultation and 3D imaging. We examine your mouth, take digital X-rays and a CBCT scan and go over the plan and the cost before anything is scheduled.
Preparation, if needed. Some patients need an extraction, bone grafting or gum treatment first, with time to heal.
Implant placement. We numb the area thoroughly; sedation options are available if you prefer. The implant is placed in the position set out in the guided plan. Most patients feel pressure rather than pain.
Healing. The bone bonds to the implant over roughly three to six months. A temporary tooth can usually be worn in the meantime.
Final restoration. Once the implant is stable we attach the abutment, take digital impressions and fit your custom crown, bridge or denture here at Modern Dental Hub.
The cost of implant treatment depends on how many implants you need, whether bone grafting is part of the plan and the type of restoration you choose. We explain the full cost after your exam and imaging, before any treatment begins.
We accept 24 insurance plans; coverage for implants varies by plan, so benefits should be verified with the office before treatment. Flexible payment options are available for patients without insurance. See the insurance plans we accept and our payment options, or call the office to discuss arrangements.

From placement to final crown, most single implants take three to six months, mainly because the bone needs time to bond to the implant.
Usually not. For a visible tooth we can often fit a temporary crown or a removable temporary, and full-arch patients typically receive a provisional set of teeth.
We numb the area thoroughly, and sedation is available for patients who want it. Most people feel pressure rather than pain during placement.
Both replace all the teeth in one jaw with a fixed set supported by implants. All-on-4 uses four implants; All-on-6 uses six, which can spread the load further when bone quality allows.
Yes. Our dentists plan the case, place the implant and design and fit the final crown, bridge or denture at Modern Dental Hub, so the whole treatment is coordinated by one team from start to finish.

Fact: Most people are back to normal activities within a day or two. The implant continues to bond with the bone for several months, but you can live normally while that happens.
Fact: A conventional denture rests on the gums and does not stop the bone underneath from shrinking. An implant acts like a root and helps preserve the jawbone.
